Help needed for boards

Those wanting to make a difference in their own city are being encouraged to apply for a variety of volunteer spots on local boards and commissions.

Applications are now being accepted for these positions and will be reviewed by the Farmersville City Council Tuesday, June 12.

Applications are available at www.farmersvilletx.com and can be returned in person to city hall.

Farmersville Economic Development (4A) is filling two spots – one held by Kevin Meguire and one by Jason Lane.

Those applying can be non-residents or have significant investment in the city for more than a year.

Meetings for this board are held the third Thursday of each month. Other members of the board include George Crump, Randy Smith and Robbie Tedford.

The Farmersville Community Development Corporation (4B) is seeking three applicants for positions currently held by John Politz, John Garcia and Katherine Hershey.

All applicants must live within the FISD boundaries.

Meetings are held the second Monday of each month. Other members of the board include Tobey Ferguson, Mike Goldstein, Jesse Nelsen and Cynthia Craddock-Clark.

The Building and Property Standards Commission is seeking to fill two positions currently held by Chris Calverley and Diane Jackson.

In order to apply for this board, applicants must live in the city limits or own real estate. Meetings for this board are held on the fourth Thursday on an as needed basis.

Other members include Tracy Foltz, Tiffany Hesse and James Riley.

The Planning and Zoning Commission is also seeking commission members for a single spot currently held by Sarah Jackson-Butler.

Other members include Lance Hudson, Kevin Adamson, Luke Ingram, Russell Chandler, Bobby Bishop and Paul Kelly.

The commission meets on the third Monday of each month and all members must live in the city.

This board also serves as the Capital Improvement Advisory Commission when needed.

The Farmersville Main Street Committee is seeking volunteers for three spots currently held by Kim Smith -Cole, Glenda Hart and Randy Rice.

Other members include Doris Cooks, Mary Berry and ex-officio member Donna Williams.

All members must be city residents or live within the FISD boundaries or have a business in the Main Street district.

Main Street meets on the second Monday of each month.

The City Amenities Board is seeking two volunteers for seats currently held by Suzie Grusendorf and Glenn Bagwell.

They meet the first Thursday of each month.

Residency requirements are to live within FISD boundaries for at least one year prior to appointment, with two members allowed to live outside city limits.

Other board members include Charlotte Holloway, Cathy Strong, John Hollis Young, Miranda Martin and Helaine Holbrook.
