A call that first responders never want to receive about a school bus being involved in a wreck occurred around 1 p.m. Thursday, June 7 on Hwy. 380.
According to preliminary information received by Texas State Trooper Sgt. Kyle Bradford, a Bland ISD School bus was traveling eastbound on Hwy. 380 and stopped to let students out at an apartment complex next to the Valero just over the Collin County/Hunt
County Line.
For a yet undetermined reason, an 18-wheeler driven by Micheal Comer rear ended the bus. Preliminary information, DPS said, is that the driver was distracted but the investigation is ongoing.
The bus was occupied by 16 individuals including 15 students who were attending summer school for Bland ISD.
Of the 16 children, 12 were checked at McKinney Hospital, two were checked at the Greenville Hospital, and two were released to their parents at the scene. The children were checked as a precautionary measure and were released that day.
Comer suffered injuries and was transported to Medical City of McKinney.
Farmersville FD, State Troopers, Collin County Sheriff’s Office, Farmersville PD, AMR, Merit Volunteer Fire Department and Caddo Mills FD responded to the crash.
