Event center gets go ahead from council

by | Sep 6, 2018 | Latest

A new event center received the go ahead after a Specific Use Permit was approved.

At the Tuesday, Aug. 28 city council meeting, council members discussed RSVP Farmersville, an event center, located at 101 B Candy Street, formerly McCraw’s Candy Company.

Council took action on two different items regarding RSVP.

The first was to change the zoning ordinance to allow a banquet/meeting hall as an allowable use in the Central Area District, subject to the approval of a Specific Use Permit (SUP.) The second was the approval of a specific use permit for RSVP Farmersville. Specific Use Permits can vary in lengths of time, but for RSVP, a year was recommended, by the Planning and Zoning Commission at its August meeting. Council was informed by P & Z liaison Craig Overstreet that the one year recommendation was made due to noise and parking concerns that were voiced at the meeting.
