After only eight months on the job, Main Street Manager Reagan Rothenberger has resigned. His last day is Friday, Oct. 12.
Rothenberger has accepted a position as city planner for the city of Murphy.
“This is really what my degree is in and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity,” he said about the new job.
Rothenberger said he didn’t feel supported in his role as main street manager, though he loves the community.
“I’m very proud of the new businesses I’ve brought into the downtown area,” he said.
Mary Berry, president of the Farmersville Main Street board, said she is disappointed with Rothenberger’s decision.
“I think he’s done an exceptional job with economic development, especially with bringing new businesses into vacant buildings,” Berry said. “He’s a very talented young man.”
The future of the Farmersville Main Street program is in limbo until the Farmersville Community Development Corporation (4B) decides whether to continue to fund the main street manager position.
The topic will be discussed at its Monday, Oct. 8 meeting.
