County home destroyed by fire

A house fire brought out multiple departments Friday, Dec. 28 to County Road 566 near Josephine shortly after 9 p.m.

The fire was originally reported as starting in the bedroom and quickly spread engulfing the home.

Due to the distance, water supply and a light turnout from neighboring departments, a delayed response added to the spread of the fire.

“Lately, we have been short on volunteers in this area of Collin County. We are always here to help each other, and provide mutual aid, but what we really need are more people willing to give up some of their time to volunteer. I’m afraid the era of true volunteerism is now becoming extinct,” Nevada FD Public Information Officer Amy Cortez said.
