School district growing more diverse

FISD continues to enroll students from other countries

 Farmersville Independent School District has a growing number of students enrolling in its schools without know­ing how to speak, read or write the English language, the FISD Board of Trustees learned.

But that is just part of the school district’s continuing growth pattern, according to Lisa Morrison, district coordi­nator for its English as a Sec­ond Language program. Mor­rison delivered her report to trustees at their Nov. 17 board meeting, which was conduct­ed in the Farmersville High School library, with nearly half of the board participating re­motely.
