Disaster related assistance available for homes, business owners

by | Mar 4, 2021 | Latest

Texans are being encouraged to report property damage related to storm on the Texas Division of Emergency Management’s survey.

The survey should take fewer than 10 minutes, and it is voluntary and does not replace any reporting to insurance companies, officials said.

Results will be shared with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help with federal disaster assistance for individuals or businesses, although the survey will not guarantee disaster relief assistance.

Gaining an understanding of the type and extent of damage can assist emergency response teams in putting together a plan of action in advance of similar weather events, officials said.

The survey is available in English and Spanish and can be taken at Texas Individual Assistance Reporting Tool (TIART) (arcgis.com).

The survey asks for specific information on the location of the residence and includes questions regarding the extent of any damage. Residents may include digital photos to the survey to help illustrate the damage.

In other storm-related developments, residents and business-owners in Farmersville may be eligible for federal assistance with repairs or replacements related to the 2021 winter storm. Homeowners, who may qualify for direct payments, and business-owners, who may qualify for low-interest loans, must follow certain procedures and guidelines to apply for the assistance.
