With school starting Thursday, Aug. 16, driving safety is paramount especially where school zones and texting are concerned.

“We will be working the school zones as school continues back,” Police Chief Mike Sullivan said.

Though Farmersville Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency for the city, Farmersville ISD PD will also be monitoring around schools and school bus routes.

Along with reduced speeds, Texas law does not allow use of a wireless communication device in a school zone, or on school parking lots during school zone operating times. The fines for this offense range from $200 to $500.
