When Hurricane Florence made landfall last month, it gave local animal lovers the opportunity to help.
Residents Marshall Furr and John NeeSmith are no stranger to orchestrating animal rescues in difficult situations.
For Furr, the hurricane signified his second time to help perform animal rescues. NeeSmith had prior experience helping with Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey.
As soon as water began to rise in North and South Carolina, the friends decided to make their way to the coast to provide animal aid. They teamed up with Keith Benning, a friend that runs Turtle Mountain Rescue in North Dakota.
