It’s been a long time since Mack Hurst fought in the Vietnam War, but he continues to carry with him those experiences that made him the man he is today.
Hurst, 74, says he actually volunteered to serve in the war, going before the draft board at age 23, shortly after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
“If you’ve ever been in combat, yeah, you’re scared,” the Farmersville resident said. “You’re not human if you’re not scared.”
