Election day is Saturday

Voters have several items to decide on Saturday’s ballot.

Local voters will decide three school board trustee positions, Place 3 on city council and a $65 million bond for Farmersville Independent School District con­struction projects.

Three Collin College trustee positions are also up for vote.

On the ballot is a bond issue that would pay for expansion of Farmersville High School, the junior high school, the in­termediate school and Tatum Elementary School. The bond is­sue proposes to double the high school student capacity from 600 to 1,200 students. It would add classrooms, upgrade security at all campuses and would expand space for other activities.

Four FISD incumbents have filed for re-election to the dis­trict’s board of trustees. Three of the incumbents will face chal­lengers for the four-year terms. Tony Gray, board president, is running unopposed for Place 3.

Daniel Huff is challenging in­cumbent Paul Kelly for Place 1.

Ben Mathews is challenging incumbent Dale Pickett for Place 2. Sandy Day and Bridget Justiss are challenging incumbent David Coleman for Place 4

Farmersville city council is holding its election for Place 1, 3 and 5, each a two-year term.

Incumbent Craig Overstreet is seeking re-election to Place 1 and is challenged by John Klos­termann. Ted Wagner and Lance Hudson are running unopposed for Place 3 and 5, respectively.

For the Collin College board, places 7 through 9 are on the ballot. In Place 7, incumbent and secretary Jim Orr will face Hel­en Chang. In Place 8, incumbent and chairman Bob Collins fac­es Misty Irby, and for the Place 9 position, incumbent and vice chairman Andy Hardin will face Jacoby Stewart Sr.

Registered voters may vote at any voting center in the county on election day.

Locally, voters my cast ballots from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Farmers­ville City Hall Council Cham­bers, 205 S. Main St., Farmers­ville.
