Diane Reid Ballard passed away on September 5, 2026, at the age of 79 in Tyler, Texas. She was born in Jacksonville, TX, to Floyd and Ruby Merle Reid. She was married first to Donald W. Cox for 16 years, then later married Larry G. Ballard on June 6, 1986. They created a blended family of their 3 children that she doted on and loved over the last 40 years.
She is survived by her husband, Larry G. Ballard; her children, David W. Cox and his wife, Vicki; Reidana L. Logan and her wife, Kari; and Tina Dell Chancelor and her husband, Chris; along with 5 grandchildren and their spouses, and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ruby Merle Reid, and her brother, Scott Reid.
Known to her friends as “Dee,” her husband lovingly called her “Mama,” and her grandchildren called her “Gingy,” because her chosen name of “Grand-dee” was too hard for her first granddaughter to say when she started to speak. However you knew her, you always knew she loved you. Gingy was always proud of her grandchildren and marveled at every accomplishment. When she was blessed with great-grandchildren, she was humbled and blessed at what the Lord continued to bestow upon her family.
Her devotion to her faith was always a strong part of life. She loved to sing and enjoyed being part of the church choir for much of her life. Larry and Diane lived in Farmersville since May of 1989 and were members of Bethlehem Baptist Church for much of that time.
A memorial service will be held under the Pavilion at the Blue Ridge City Cemetery in Blue Ridge, TX on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., with a visitation to follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Farmersville, TX.
