New council members take oaths

by | May 20, 2021 | Latest

The Farmersville City Council has welcomed two new members to its ranks as well as one who was re-elected in the May 1 municipal election.

City councilman Craig Overstreet returned for another term in office after defeating John Klostermann in the race for Place 1. Overstreet is a banker with extensive financial experience. Joining the council is retiree Ted Wagner, who succeeds Jim Hemby in Place 3 and general contractor Lance Hudson, who succeeds Dwain Mathers in Place 5. Neither Hemby nor Mathers ran for re-election; Wagner and Hudson were unopposed in their races.

The May 11 regular council meeting occurred after the council conducted a brief special meeting to canvass the votes and certify the results of the municipal election. The council voted unanimously to approve the results as tabulated. The special meeting lasted one minute.
