Residents and visitors to downtown Farmersville may notice some new and improved changes south of the square.

Some of the additions include safer sidewalks for pedestrians in the area thanks to a Texas Community Development Fund grant awarded last year.

Heritage Museum Board President Misty Wiebold said the city’s grant process began several years ago. However, after being awarded a Texas Community Development Fund grant for $350,000, along with a $52,500 match, renovations downtown have been ongoing since the construction process began in mid-October 2023.

City Manager Ben White confirmed that the $402,500 project is set to be completed by the end of March 2024, with 98% completion as of Monday, March 18.
