Legislative update, TOY recognitions at meeting

by | Jun 5, 2025 | Education, Latest

Secondary Teacher of the Year, Bea Taylor, a Spanish I teacher, was recognized at the Thursday, May 29 Board of trustees meeting. She is shown with board president Tony Gray, left, and Farmersville Junior High Principal Dean Johnson. Elementary Teacher of the Year Vicki Turner, among others, was recognized, but not in attendance.

The May Farmersville ISD school board meeting began with an update on legislative changes by Superintendent Micheal French.

French rated the final decisions of the Legislature as “a 6 out of 10, although it was a “2” a few weeks ago,” he said.

The positive aspects of the legislation primarily address teacher and employee raises, with teachers receiving pay increases ranging from $4,000 to $8,000.
