As Farmersville continues to grow, city leaders moved Monday, Dec. 15, to ensure future green space, with City Council approving new park development fees for residential projects.
The new fee structure was adopted following a staff study comparing park development fees used by nearby cities, including Melissa, Princeton, Anna, Celina and Prosper. The assessments are intended to fund the creation and improvement of public parks and recreational facilities, including green space, trails, playgrounds and other amenities.
The study found that peer cities typically assess park development fees during the permitting phase of residential construction projects.
