Downtown shop continues family legacy

by | Dec 24, 2025 | Latest

McT-Shirts and True Roots Boutique on McKinney Street was a labor of love for owners Jenger McTee and Jennifer Fetty and their extended families. Previously, the building housed Farmersville Auto Supply.

Another generation of a longtime Farmersville family has put down roots on the downtown square, as sisters Jenger McTee and Jennifer Fetty opened a brick-and-mortar storefront for McT-Shirts, continuing a multigenerational tradition of family-owned businesses in the heart of the city.

The sisters, third-generation downtown proprietors, purchased the McKinney Street building in late July and quickly began transforming it into a home for their custom apparel business and their newest venture, True Roots Boutique. The storefront officially opened this fall, just in time for a busy season of community events.

While McT-Shirts is new to downtown, the business itself is well established. McTee began printing shirts out of a spare room in her home in 2019, and Fetty joined as co-owner the following year. The sisters identified a need for a local custom apparel company during their father Johnnie Pryor’s tenure as Farmersville ISD’s athletic director, when school and team orders were often sent out of town.

McTee said the decision to launch the business also offered flexibility as her son with special needs grew older.
