The public got its first in-person look at newly appointed interim City Manager Michael Scott during the Feb. 2 Farmersville City Council meeting.

Mayor Craig Overstreet introduced Scott and read a statement outlining his background and experience. Council previously approved hiring a search firm with municipal experience to conduct a nationwide search for a permanent replacement for former City Manager Ben White.

Following the introduction, council recognized Farmersville police officer Francisco Martinez for his work enforcing drunk driving laws. A representative from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) presented Martinez with the organization’s Enforcement Hero Award, which recognizes outstanding service in the enforcement of DWI laws in Texas.

Police Chief Marsha Phillips said 48 DWI citations were issued citywide in 2025, with 38 written by Martinez.
