Building repairs, parkway progress lead council agenda

by | Mar 5, 2026 | Area news, Latest

Needed repairs to city facilities, including roof work, electrical upgrades and public safety improvements, led discussion during the Farmersville City Council’s regular meeting as officials weighed immediate fixes against upcoming budget considerations.

At the Monday, March 2, meeting, Mayor pro tem Mike Henry outlined recommended improvements to several city buildings, reading itemized costs to councilmembers and noting that some projects would be delayed until second-quarter budget analysis is complete.

Improvements to the public safety building include roof repairs described as a “band-aid fix” ($9,146), foundation repair to be held until the second quarter ($28,177), and installation of an additional electrical box with added circuits ($2,475). Henry also recommended allocating an additional $5,000 for the police and fire departments.

On the police side, needed items include exterior lighting for the parking lot ($1,200), door repair ($2,000) and a new hot water heater ($125). For the fire department, Henry said $3,000 is needed for supplies so firefighters can complete their own interior repairs, along with $1,100 for a dishwasher and stove.
