Collin College has appointed Garry Evans as provost of the Plano Campus and Kyle Bellue as provost of the Wylie and Farmersville campuses, the college announced March 9. The appointments take effect June 1.

The leadership changes follow the retirements of Sherry Schumann, provost of the Plano Campus, and Mary McRae, provost of the Wylie and Farmersville campuses. Both will conclude their service May 31. 

Evans and Bellue will work with Schumann and McRae during a transition period to support continuity in campus leadership, the college said.

District President Neil Matkin said strong campus leadership plays a critical role in supporting students and advancing the college’s mission across the district.

Evans said he is honored to serve the Plano Campus and continue working with faculty and staff to help students achieve their academic and career goals.

Evans joined Collin College in 2012 as a professor of music and has since served in several campus leadership roles. He currently serves as associate provost of the Plano Campus. He earned a Doctor of Musical Arts and a Master of Music from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Music from Tennessee Technological University.

Bellue said he is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Wylie and Farmersville campus communities and looks forward to working with faculty and staff to strengthen academic excellence and support student success.

Bellue currently serves as executive dean of the Farmersville Campus and previously served as associate dean for Academic Affairs. He brings nearly three decades of leadership and operational experience from the U.S. Air Force, including senior-level faculty leadership at the Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.

He earned a Doctor of Education from the University of Memphis and both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University.

As campus provosts, Evans and Bellue will oversee academic and campus operations, support instructional quality and student success initiatives, and collaborate with faculty and staff across their respective campuses.

Collin College serves approximately 60,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 200 degrees and certificates. Programs include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Bachelor of Applied Technology in Cybersecurity, a Bachelor of Applied Science in Construction Management, a Bachelor of Applied Science in Clinical Operations Management and a Bachelor of Applied Technology in Software Development.
