Citizens Police Academy now accepting applications

Those wanting a glimpse into the world of policing need not look much further as the Farmersville Police Department offers its fourth Citizens Police Academy class.

The department is now seeking applicants for the class, which begins Thursday, March 7.

Classes are held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. each Thursday for a total of 12 weeks.

Basic requirements for the class including being at least 21 years old and being a resident, business owner or employee of a Farmersville business or being involved in the community in some aspect, such as members of a civic organization. For this year’s class, the academy is open to county residents within the Farmersville area. Applicants must not have any convictions for assault, weapons, or narcotics or any felony convictions within the past 15 years.
