Severe weather struck the area last week as high winds created havoc along with torrential rain, thunder and lightning.

In Lavon Beach Estates on County Road 1054 outside Farmersville, homeowners Thomas and Jennifer Baggett awoke shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 13 to the sound of ripping metal.

“We really thought it was a tornado. You could feel the wind against the house,” Jennifer said.

Watching it rain sideways, the couple tried to figure out what they were hearing. As the storm cleared they discovered their carport had been relocated, blown backwards landing on their house and a nearby shed.

Siding was also removed from their home and a vehicle’s mirror was knocked loose.
