The public is invited to Decoration Day at IOOF Cemetery and open house at the IOOF Lodge on Sunday, May 5.

The open house will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and refreshments will be served.

Many area cemeteries set aside one day each year to clean and decorate their cemeteries. This tradition not only brings beautification to the cemetery but also affords families the opportunity to come together to work on their plots and teach the present generation the importance of honoring the earlier generations.

“It is our hope that the entire community will participate in Farmersville’s Decoration Day,” Mack Hurst, cemetery association president said.
