Sparks of Freedom this Thursday

The annual Sparks of Freedom celebration will be held at Southlake Park starting at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 4. The event benefits the Farmersville Volunteer Fire Department. (Courtesy art)

Farmersville will host its annual Independence Day event Sparks of Freedom Thursday, July 4 from 4 p.m. to dark at Southlake Park.

The event, sponsored by the Farmersville Community Development Corporation and Eldorado Construction Consulting LLC, benefits the Farmersville Fire Department.

Event activities include bounce houses, vendors, live entertainment and a firefighter’s challenge course for kids. The event is culminated by fireworks.

This year live music will be streamed during the fireworks accessible on The Possum on 92.1

Schedule of events includes vendors open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., kids zone from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., firefighters challenge course from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Clay Potter Band 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., tune to 92.1 for patriotic music at 9:15 p.m. and fireworks start at 9:20 p.m.

The event is free, though donations for the fire department are accepted.

Southlake Park is located at 1601 Old Josephine Road in Farmersville.
