A century of love

by | Jul 18, 2019 | Latest

Grandson Chad Chadwick, left, and granddaughter Toshia Chadwick Quintero, right, celebrate with their grandma Emeline Taylor for her 100th birthday July 5.

Before computers were invented, cars could be pulled out of a driveway or television existed, centenarian Emeline Taylor was born.

Mrs. Taylor, who celebrated her 100th birthday July 5, has seen a lot throughout her life. She has endured wars, the Great Depression and many other historically significant events.

In 2014, there were 72,197 Americans that were over 100 years old, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control. What used to be unusual is now becoming more and more common as advancements in medicine and health continue.

In Farmersville, turning 100 is still a momentous occasion and Mrs. Taylor had a special birthday party with her family and friends.

Calling Farmersville Health and Rehab home for the past five years, Mrs. Taylor can no longer verbally communicate but shares a love for her family with hugs and holding hands.
