After spotting Farmersville a 30-6 lead in the first two quarters, Blue Ridge took control of the 2nd half. Tigers’ senior quarterback Micah Dickerson and company scored 33 unanswered points after halftime to win their season opener, 39-30.

The Farmers, under the direction of sophomore QB Levi McAbee, seemingly scored at will in the first quarter.

McAbee connected for three touchdown passes in the quarter.

Drake Grimes snagged two scoring catches, a 9 yard catch for the first score of the game and a 52 yard diving catch later in the 1st quarter.  Amare Warren converted a catch into a 60-yard score as well.

The game was a tale of two halfs with Farmersville controlling the first and Blue Ridge responding in the second.

Both teams committed costly penalties that kept scoring drives alive.

The Farmers had a balanced offensive attack and McAbee played well in his first varsity start.

It was a tough loss for Farmersville and both teams felt the effects of real game speed, tiring in the 4th quarter.

Next up for the Farmers is a road game at North Lamar who lost their opener at Whitesboro, 48-25.
