Paula Kay Ownsbey Stogner entered into God’s Kingdom after a long battle with Alzheimer’s the afternoon of Friday, February 7, 2025, with the love of family surrounding her.
Paula was born in Loving, Texas in 1949 to Lora and AC Ownsbey. She played basketball and volleyball, cheered, and danced beautifully. She was valedictorian of the 1967 graduating class of Paradise High School in Paradise, Texas.
Paula and Larry met in fourth grade, were 5th grade sweethearts, and the rest was history. They married in 1970. In 1972, Paula and Larry welcomed daughter, Shannon Lark, followed shortly by son, Corey Matthew, in 1974. Paula was a devoted wife and mother as well as a “second mom” to so many others.
Paula was a woman of many passions including: camping, decorating, gardening, anything artistic, animals, and her seven grandchildren, who often referred to her as “a party on legs”.
Paula was a loyal servant to God and loved the Lord above all else. Now that Paula has passed into the arms of the Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of her earthly life, it is the beginning of a heavenly eternity.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Larry; sister, Patsy; children: Shannon (Jeff) and Corey (Jill); grandchildren: Kennedy, McKay, Ellis, Sullivan, AJ, Dayton and Jase. Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Lora & AC; siblings, Joann, Marilyn and Bobby.
A Celebration of Paula’s Life was held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at the Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, He will direct your paths.
In honor of Paula and to further research and hopefully find a cure, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association, act.alz.org (team “Paula’s Peeps”).
