Peggy Holland Johnson was born on December 27, 1931, in Dallas Texas, the eldest daughter of the late Auby and Jesse Taylor. In her 93rd year, she passed away peacefully on the morning of February 20, 2025.
A longtime resident of Farmersville, Texas and active member of the Church of Christ, Peggy was a devoted servant of God who was selfless in her dedication to helping others. When she was physically able, she cooked and delivered food and provided comfort to anyone in need.
Along with being the Matriarch of her family, Peggy’s employment history also reflected her desire to help others. She was a long-time employee of the Job Corps center in Mckinney, Texas before transitioning to Collin County CSCD, retiring after serving there for 14 years. Lastly, she was a clerk at Dyer Drugs in Farmersville, working well into her 80’s because she refused to be idle while she could still contribute.
Peggy loved to travel, cook, paint, write poetry and participate in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a passionate gardener and animal lover.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Nelson Holland, eldest son Kerry Holland and eldest grandson Derek Holland. She is survived by sisters Pat Tharp, Charlotte Barnes, and Pam Boozer, her son Mark Holland and wife Kathy of Farmersville, Texas, son Keith Holland and wife Leslie of Jacksonville, Florida and daughter Lisa Holland, also of Farmersville. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Hurst’s Fielder Baker Funeral Home on Friday, February 28th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. while her funeral service will be held at the Farmersville Church of Christ on March 1st at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu flowers, the family has requested a donation be made to any animal shelter or children’s home of your choice.
