Junior Breelynn Pollard, a multi-sport standout at Farmersville, splits her time in the fall season competing for the Lady Farmers’ cross-country and volleyball teams.
Last Friday, Pollard focused on cross-country and turned in a strong performance at the Mineola Yellowjacket Invitational at Mineola High School. She finished sixth in the girls’ two-mile run with a time of 12 minutes, 33 seconds.
Pollard was one of six Farmersville girls to compete in the race. Junior Dani Penazola was next for the Lady Farmers, clocking 13:28 to place 34th. Freshman Caroline Lindsey finished 44th in 13:43, sophomore Southern Sanders took 68th in 14:39, senior Daniella Jiminez ran 79th in 15:01, and senior Valerie Palmros placed 84th in 15:21.
Farmersville had more balance on the boys’ side. Sophomore Landen Ware and junior Luke Lair both finished in the top 20. Ware ran 14th on the five-kilometer course in 16:07, while Lair placed 17th in 16:21.
Junior Travis Chambers (31st, 17:02.21) edged sophomore Drew Crum (32nd, 17:02.48) in a near photo finish. Junior Landen Green placed 35th in 17:07, and senior Miller Meeks was 36th in 17:10.
In junior varsity action, Farmersville’s girls were led by freshmen Camilla Pua (37th, 15:42) and Abbygail Ware (52nd, 16:26), along with junior Amaris Alvarez (59th, 17:11).
On the boys’ JV side, freshman Jesse Hamm placed sixth in 17:26. Sophomore Kenson Briscoe finished 22nd in 18:44, and sophomore Jesse Salinas was 28th in 19:10. Senior Brady Graham took 38th in 19:42, and junior Bob Frech was 40th in 19:45.
Also competing for the JV boys were juniors Keegan Chapman (74th, 21:55) and Landon Herrera (75th, 21:56), sophomore Emmanuel Flores (78th, 22:03), freshman Riley Hofmann (82nd, 22:06) and junior Maddox McKay (83rd, 22:08).
Farmersville is scheduled to return to action Friday at Sulphur Springs.
