Senior running back Marquis Oshodi rushed for touchdowns of 32, 14 and 97 yards and Farmersville outscored Gainesville 35-0 in the second half to earn a 49-13 homecoming win at Farmers Stadium on Friday.
Farmersville took a 14-0 lead on a three-yard touchdown run by senior running back Gordon Swartz with 1:46 remanning in the first quarter and subsequent PAT kick by senior place-kicker Christian Aguilar.
Mistakes by Farmersville late in the first half allowed Gainesville to get to within 14-13.
Kaison Seatherton returned an interception 20 yards a touchdown and Leopards quarterback Ray Glancy threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Payton Mathews with 13 seconds left in the second quarter.
Farmersville committed three of its four turnovers on the night in the first half and also had a punt blocked.
Gainesville moved the ball well at times but Farmersville’s defense forced six turnovers and had a goal-line stand after the Leopards twice failed to convert from the 1-yard line.
A fumble recovery by junior Cooper Horne midway through the third quarter set up Farmersville with starting field position at Gainesville’s 32-yard line.
One play later, Oshodi ran for a touchdown to give the Farmers (4-1 overall, 1-0 District 5-4A Division II) a 21-13 lead.
On the first play of the next Farmersville possession, the Farmers increased their lead to 28-13 after senior Ethan Stone hauled in a 65-yard touchdown reception.
Stone was named the homecoming king in a pregame ceremony.
