With Farmersville needing to win Friday’s home game against Krum to remain in playoff contention, the Farmers played with the necessary desperation.
Farmersville took an eight-point lead in the first quarter and attempted to build on that advantage.
However, a 35-point second quarter by undefeated Krum proved too much for Farmersville in a 70-36 loss — a setback that eliminated the Farmers from playoff contention.
Farmersville opened the scoring on a 4-yard touchdown run by senior running back Marquis Oshodi and the ensuing PAT kick by senior Christian Aguilar gave the Farmers a 7-0 lead.
Oshodi finished with 104 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Junior wide receiver Amare Warren had six pass receptions for 110 yards and two total touchdowns. Junior quarterback Levi McAbee threw for 123 yards on 8 of 15 through the air.
After Krum tied the score at 7-7 on a 3-yard touchdown run, Farmersville retook the lead on a kickoff return by senior Ethan Stone. A successful 2-point conversion gave the Farmers a 15-7 lead.
However, Krum answered with 35 straight points to assume control.
Krum led 49-22 at halftime.
Krum out-gained Farmersville 666-493 in total yardage.
Farmersville (5-4, 2-3) will close out the season Thursday at Sanger.
