Although the fall sports season ended one month ago, what Farmersville accomplished in cross country, football and volleyball won’t soon be forgotten.

Memories of this past season were rekindled by the football team during their annual team banquet on Dec. 8.

Senior running back Marquis Oshodi was named the team’s Most Valuable Player — one of nine awards that are voted on by the coaching staff. Junior quarterback Levi McAbee and junior wide receiver Amare Warren were Co-Offensive Player of the Year. Senior linebacker Cade Ellis garnered Defensive MVP. Senior Christian Aguilar won Special Teams Player of the Year.

Junior center Justin Queneau was named the recipient of the Outstanding Offensive Lineman award. Senior defensive tackle Triffan Green captured Outstanding Defensive Lineman. Senior wide receiver Ethan Stone won the Farmer Fight Award. Senior guard Hayden Grabowski earned the Sportsmanship Award, and senior defensive end Addison Adams won the Sportsmanship Award.

Oshodi, an Allen transfer, finished with 1,390 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns in his only season playing for Farmersville. McAbee eclipsed 4,000 career passing yards in just his second season as the Farmers’ starting quarterback. As a junior, he threw for 1,771 yards with 18 passing touchdowns and also ran for a pair of scores. Warren led the Farmers in receiving yards with 663 to go along with six touchdown receptions.

Farmersville also got huge contributions in the passing game from Stone, which was necessary given that the Farmers lost their top receiver from a year ago, Drake Grimes, to graduation. Stone also had six receiving touchdowns, in addition to 510 receiving yards.

The booming right leg of Aguilar was a huge weapon for Farmersville. Aguilar went 8-of-9 on field goals with a long of 46 yards and was 28-of-29 on PAT kicks.

Farmersville’s volleyball team held its team banquet two weeks ago.

Junior outside hitter Peighton Purser was named the recipient of the Most Valuable Player award. Sophomore middle hitter Cambrant Donaldson captured Offensive Player of the Year, while junior libero Isabella Lopez was voted the squad’s top defensive player. Senior setter/defensive specialist Alexia Hernandez and senior outside hitter Graycin Strawn were named the co-recipient of the Fightin Farmer Award.

Purser, this season’s District 13-4A Offensive Player of the Year, finished with team highs in kills (505), service aces (85) and blocks (45) and also logged 351 digs.

Lopez thrived as Farmersville’s lockdown defender in the back row, posting a team-high 386 digs while contributing 26 aces and 102 assists.

Donaldson tallied 173 kills, 53 digs, 37 blocks and five aces in her first full season with Farmersville’s top team. Hernandez racked up 130 digs, 40 aces and 89 assists. Strawn had 34 digs, 31 kills, four blocks and two assists.

Farmersville’s cross country team didn’t have a banquet, but its coaching staff handed out four individual awards.

Junior Breelynn Pollard was named the MVP of the girls’ team, while senior Daniella Jimenez won the Grit Award. Landon Ware, a sophomore, captured MVP honors for the boys’ team, and senior Miller Meeks won the Grit Award.

Pollard capped off a junior season by becoming the first Farmersville Lady Farmer to run in the state meet since Aubrey Varner made back-to-back appearances in Round Rock during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Pollard earned second place in the District 13-4A meet with a time of 13:34, 14th at the Region II-4A meet and 64th at the state meet.

Jimenez placed 30th at the district meet.

Ware was one of the top performers all season for the Farmers, including at the district meet, where he placed ninth with a 17:54. He helped Farmersville qualify for the regional meet as a team for the second consecutive season. Meeks finished in 15th place at the district meet.
