Real heroes

by | Jul 30, 2020 | Latest

Sheriff Jim Skinner presented Life Saving Awards to Farmersville Police Officer Korey Redding, Collin County Deputy Travis Munk and Collin County resident Gye Kraemer July 22 for their heroic work in the rescue of five adults and one child in April.

On April 29 at approximately 6:30 p.m., Officer Korey Redding and Deputy Travis Munk were dispatched to Lake Lavon to a boating accident with people in the water.

Upon arrival, the two officer’s made contact with Kraemer who offered his boat and assistance to help the officers. Subsequently, the officers, along with the assistance of Kraemer, traveled out to the boat wreck and found a sinking boat with five adults and one child in the water.

The officers were able to rescue all the victims and transport them to shore to awaiting ambulances and fire personnel. Because of the officers’ quick response to the scene and the ability to obtain viable transportation from Kraemer, a tragedy was averted.
