Lady Farmers lose in area round

by | May 8, 2022 | Latest, Sports

It was the end of the line for the Farmersville softball team, losing 2-1 to Pleasant Grove Friday night in Winnsboro.

The Lady Farmers (12-0, 20-7) started off positively with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Jamie Varga opened the game with a single and later scored on Jenson McTee’s ground out to take the early lead, but they were halted from there despite outhitting their opponents 9-5.

Varga also went the distance on the rubber, but Pleasant Grove scored the winning run in the top of the sixth on a steal of home to seal the game. Farmersville had three runners reach base in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn’t bring in the tying run.

The Lady Hawks face the winner of North Lamar and Mabank in the regional quarterfinals.
