Farmers stifled by Aubrey with playoffs on deck

by | Nov 4, 2023 | Latest, Sports

The Fighting Farmers closed out the season with a 48-7 loss to Aubrey. Next up, Farmersville will take on Caddo Mills for their first postseason action in 15 years.

It wasn’t exactly the way Farmersville wanted to close out the regular season. Still, the Fighting Farmers (7-3) dropped their contest with Aubrey 48-7 on Friday as the Chaparrals (6-4, 6-0) put the finishing touches on a perfect sweep through the district schedule.

On this night, Farmersville’s offense simply couldn’t find their rhythm with their lone score coming on a 68-yard bomb in which quarterback Caden Norman found Arden Cox wide open behind the defense. Still, that was one of the few highlights for the offense.

However, while the offense struggled, the defense had an encouraging showing in the first half against one of the more explosive offenses they’ve seen. The Farmers held the Chaps to just 17 offensive points in the first half.

They did wear down as the game went on, but the scoreboard didn’t accurately reflect their performance on this night. Next up, Farmersville will take on Caddo Mills in the opening round of the playoffs.

The details on the contest will be determined in the coming days. Keep up with updates on Twitter/X at @farmersville.
