Powerlifters qualify for state

Farmersville will have two representatives at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association Class 4A small schools meet, set for Friday, March 14, in Edinburg.

PJ Capetillo was crowned champion in the 132-pound weight class division at the Region 6-4A small school regional championships, held Feb. 5 at Decatur High School. She recorded a total lift of 840 pound between the squad (350), bench press (185) and dead lift (305).

Sophia Ferreitz is also bound for state after she won the regional title at 220 pounds. She lifted 870 pounds, including 370 in the squat, 195 in the bench press and 305 in the dead lift.
