This season has been one for the record books for the Farmersville track and field team.

The Farmers had already set two new school records in the boys’ 4×100 and boys’ 4×200.

Last week, sophomore Amare Warren added his name to the record books. Competing in the District 13-4A meet at Sunnyvale’s Raider Stadium, Warren won the district title with a leap of 48 feet, 11 inches – three feet more than the previous school record of 45-11, which was set by Joe Lemberg in 1999.

For Warren, it was the third time this season that he helped to set a school record – the other two occurrences came in the 4×100 and 4×200.

Those two aforementioned relays turned in another strong performance last week at the 13-4A meet. Warren, Owen Gates, Drake Grimes and Gordon Swartz won the 4×100 with a time of 42.26 seconds. In the 4×200, Warren, Grimes, Gates and Kauri Miller posted a winning time of 1:29.78.

The Farmers completed the sweep of the boys’ relays after the team of Swartz, Ethan Stone, Emilio Meza and Grimes won the district title in the 4×400 in 3:24.83.

Overall, Warren qualified for the area meet in five events. In addition to his performances in the triple jump and the relays, he finished as the district runner-up in the long jump with a distance of 21-8 and captured fourth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.88.

Stone is bound for the area meet in three events. In addition to helping to lead the Farmers to the district title in the 4×400, he ran to second place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.63 and also was fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.25.

Grimes added a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.99.

Bryan Mujica qualified for the area meet in the 3,200-meter dash, crossing the finish line at the 13-4A meet in a time of 10:38.8.

The Farmersville girls will also send a large contingent to this Thursday’s area meet in Paris after the Lady Farmers qualified for the second round of the postseason in 13 events.

Ameera Warren was crowned district champion in the girls’ 200-meter dash, winning the event in a time of 26.68. She is also an area qualifier in the long jump. Warren earned second place with a distance of 16-3.75.

Rylie Cottongame also captured a district championship, winning the pole vault with a clearance of 9-feet. She was one of two Lady Farmers to earn a berth in the area meet in the pole vault. The other berth was earned by Katelynn McRay, who secured third place with a height of 8-feet even.

Breelynn Pollard qualified for the area meet in the 1,600 (5:45.42) and 3,200 (12:52.51), placing second in both events.

Alexa Patino will represent Farmersville in Paris in the hurdles. She earned fourth place in both the 100 hurdles (17.74) and 300 hurdles (49.74) at the district meet.

Alexi Atchison was the 13-4A runner-up in the 400 (1:02.38).

Jachael Pearson leapt to bronze in the triple jump (34-1.5).

All three Lady Farmer relay teams punched their ticket into the area meet. The 4×100 captured second place in a time of 51.1 seconds, the 4×200 took second in 1:49.66, while the 4×400 was third in 4:19.67. Atchison, Chloe Jones, Landri Gray and Ameera Warren ran the 4×100 for the Lady Farmers. Aaliyah Corzine, Chloe Jones, Gray and Warren teamed up in the 4×200, while Atchison, Jones, Patino and Avery Davis competed in the 4×400.
