One week after Farmersville sophomore Amare Warren broke the school record in the boys’ triple jump by three feet, he made another leap for gold during last Thursday’s area 13-4A/14-4A meet in Paris.

Although Warren didn’t break his own record, he delivered another dominating performance, winning the area title in the triple jump with a lead of 47-feet, 7.5 inches.

Overall, Warren qualified for this week’s Region II-4A meet in three events. He added a second-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 21-1.5 and ran to silver as a leg on the boys’ 4×100. Owen Gates, Drake Grimes and Gordon Swartz ran on the 4×100 with Warren.

Junior Ethan Stone was the area runner-up in the boys’ 400-meter dash, clocking a time of 50.50 seconds.

The boys’ 4×400 of Swartz, Stone, Grimes and Emilio Meza is bound for regionals after they captured second place with a time of 3:27.62.

Fellow sophomore Ameera Warren set the tone for the Farmersville girls.

She won the area title in the 200 dash with a time of 25.87 seconds.

Sophomore Breelynn Pollard ran to third place in the girls’ 3,200 in a time of 12:28.47 and added a fourth-place finish in the 1,600 with a 5:44.16.

Junior Jachael Pearson took fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 33-feet even.

Junior Katelynn McRay qualified for the regional meet in the pole vault, recording a height of 8-0, good for fourth place.

The girls’ 4×200 of Warren, Aaliyah Corzine, Landri Gray and Chloe Jones finished in fourth place with a 1:48.07.

The top four finishers in each event qualified for regionals.

The Region II-4A meet is scheduled for this Friday and Saturday at Texas A&M Commerce.
