Hit by pitch lifts Farmersville to sweep of Pittsburg

The Farmersville baseball team is bound for the area round of the Class 4A Division II playoffs.

Freshman Sebastian Redwine was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning, clinching a 9-8 win over Pittsburg in Game 2 of a bi-district playoff series last Friday from Farmersville High School.

Farmersville trailed 8-7 going into the the seventh, but the Farmers proceeded to level the score at 8-8 after senior Jahir Vanegas drew a bases-loaded walk, the third consecutive walk that was issued to Farmersville.

Senior Mason Erwin struck out seven and allowed six hits and two runs (one earned) in 4.1 innings. Junior Mason Day came in relief of Erwin and picked up the win. Day worked around six hits with six strikeouts in 2.2 innings.

Farmersville (19-13) will play Spring Hill (26-6) in the area round. Game 1 is set for 7 p.m. Thursday. Game 2 will be played at 7 p.m. Friday. If necessary, Game 3 is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday. All three games will be played at Canton High School.
