Celebrate Trails Day returns April 25

by | Apr 9, 2026 | Area news, Latest

Residents are invited to lace up their shoes, grab their bikes and head outdoors as Farmersville prepares to host National Celebrate Trails Day on Saturday, April 25, at the Chaparral Trail.

Activities will begin at 9 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the trailhead, marking the local kickoff of the nationwide event that promotes outdoor recreation and community connectivity.

Following the ceremony, participants can take part in a variety of activities designed for all ages and fitness levels, including a 1-mile fun run, jog or walk, a 10-mile bike ride and a 30-mile gravel bike ride along the Chaparral Trail, part of the Northeast Texas Trail (NETT) system.

Organizers encourage families to attend and participate together, whether on foot or on wheels.

Celebrate Trails Day is held annually across the country to highlight the benefits of trails and encourage people to explore outdoor spaces in their communities. The Chaparral Trail, one of the longest multiuse trail systems in Texas, continues to serve as a key recreational and tourism asset for the region.

The local event is made possible through a partnership between the Farmersville Parks and Recreation Department, the Farmersville Chamber of Commerce, Christian Cycling–Texas and the Farmersville 4B Committee.

Participants are encouraged to bring water, wear appropriate gear and enjoy a day on the trail with family and friends.
