A group of kids recently had a chance to step back in time and experience life in Farmersville more than a century ago.

For over 20 years the community has worked to produce Farmersville 1900, an annual event allowing fourth graders to spend two days immersed in their city’s history. This year it was held Oct. 11-12.

“Our purpose is to preserve our past for our future,” said Marty Shelton, member of Farmersville Historical Society. “We’re trying to pass down some knowledge of Farmersville heritage to the kids that are coming up. We always have open house during Old Time Saturday and kids come through and say they remember this. They value it and really learn. There are bits of Farmersville heritage that stick with them.”
