Hughlon Eddie Dowell

Hughlon Eddie Dowell died July 21, 2015. He was born in South Bend, Ind. on Jan. 12, 1924, the son of the late A.M. (Kinley) and Annie V. Dowell. He proudly served his country in the US Army and was a veteran of World War II. He retired from Southwestern Bell after 37 years of service and was a longtime member of the First Methodist Church of Farmersville. He was active in the men’s group and Sunday School class and especially enjoyed his dominoes group on Wednesdays.

Hughlon is survived by his son, Alex Dowell and his wife, Vicky; grandson, Blayne Dowell and his wife, Abby; granddaughter, Carley Taglieri and her husband, Trent; son-in-law Michael Scimeca; great-grand- daughters, Elise and Siena Taglieri, and McKinley Dowell; and sister, Bonnie Weidman.

Hughlon is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlcie; cherished daughter, Patricia Scimeca; and two sisters, Elsie Sapp and Ermon Moreland.

Visitation was held Friday evening, July 24 from 6 – 8 p.m.

The funeral service was held on Saturday, July 25 at 10 a.m. at Hurst’s Fielder Baker Funeral Home in Farmersville. The Rev. Tom Waitschies officiated the service and music was provided by Mrs. Glenda Hart.

Pallbearers were Blayne Dowell, Trent Taglieri, Ken Whited, Hooker Reavis, Wayne Eitel and Earl Bates. Honorary Pallbearers were Jerry Hart, Charles Curington and Michael Scimeca.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made “In Memory of Hughlon Dowell” to First United Methodist Church Farmersville, PO Box 680, Farmersville, TX 75442.
