Speaker challenges mayor at council

by | Feb 22, 2018 | Latest

Accusations against Mayor Diane Piwko have again been brought to light during public comments at Farmersville’s last city council meeting.

On Tuesday, Feb. 13 former city council member Leaca Caspari chronicled a list of actions allegedly made by Mayor Piwko.

In July 2016, Caspari asked for a written explanation outlining the reason she was banned from city offices. She received a letter from City Manager Ben White which detailed reasons for the banning.

“After the vote denying the Preliminary Plat for a cemetery, several council members observed you leaving the City Council Chambers to engage is a prolonged conversation with the Islamic Association of Collin County’s attorney and several representatives …” the letter from White states. “Restricting access throughout City Hall to non-staff members was again raised and in particular your continued access throughout City Hall given what appeared to be an adversarial response to the city council’s denial of the cemetery plat.”
