Filing has closed for Farmersville city council with the mayoral seat and two council seats contested.

For Place 2, there are three individuals who have filed: incumbent city councilmember Donny Mason, Angie Rios and John Garcia.

Mason, who has served on council since 2016,

“For the past two years I have voted on all issues, big or small with the citizens in mind, what I thought was the best for the community and with the heart I promised I would,” Mason said. “If re-elected I will be honored to continue to represent you, the citizens of Farmersville as your City Councilman, Place 2. Together we can continue to keep Farmersville moving in a positive direction.”

Mason grew up in Farmersville, then attended East Texas State University in Commerce until he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served from 1966 to 1968 with one year in Vietnam.

He retired from Frito Lay in Dallas after 30 years and then retired from Lattimore Materials in McKinney after nine years of employment.
