Farmersville parents will have an added convenience for the 2018-’19 school year. The free and reduced lunch program application is now online.

To apply online parents and guardians can go to www.farmersvilleisd.net, click on the departments tab, then the child nutrition tab and click on the meal app now.

It allows parents 24/7 access to fill out the application and it is tablet and cellphone compatible. Applicants can also view their determination online.

“It looks good and we already have several applications,” Child Nutrition Director Tammie Pyle said.

With the start of the school year occurring Thursday, Aug. 16, under normal circumstances Pyle would have very few applications on the first day. However, she already has near 50.

“It’s a much faster turn around,” she said.

Currently, 57 percent of FISD students are on the free and reduced lunch program.

Parents also have the capability to pay for lunches online for their children attending FISD, which aids parents in monitoring their kids accounts.

“It’s very convenient for them to have the ability to access accounts online,” Pyle said.
