Resident selected to lead home rule charter efforts

Michael Hesse, a former three-term Farmersville City Council member, has agreed to lead a citizen’s effort to campaign on behalf of a home rule charter measure that Farmersville voters will decide on next May.

The city council voted on Oct. 12 to put the measure to a citywide vote on May 7, 2022. State law prohibits the city from spending public money or using any publicly owned venue to campaign on behalf of an issue. So, Hesse, a manufacturer’s sales representative, and a former public school educator, has stepped up to lead that effort.
