Farmersville showmen claim numerous awards

Farmersville FFA and 4-H members picked up some of the top awards at the Collin County Junior Livestock Show Jan. 8-15 at the Myers Park and Event Center in McKinney.

Farmersville ISD Ag Teacher Steve Horton said “Farmersville FFA had a great county show” this year.

Students participated in showing swine, sheep, goat, rabbit, steer and horticulture projects, however, most showed livestock in the Swine division, with singular participants in Rabbit, Goat and Horticulture.

Klayden Powell Reserve Grand Champion – Overall and Reserve Grand Champion – Jr Showmanship

In the Swine division, top showmen included: Dosson Chumbley Grand Champion – Overall, Klayden Powell Reserve Grand Champion – Overall and Reserve Grand Champion – Jr Showmanship, Carson Dillard Grand Champion – Jr Showmanship.

Other winners included: Zane Thompson 1st in class – Reserve Champion White OPB and 4th – Cross, Addison Horton 1st in class – Reserve Champion Duroc and 4th  – Cross, Gavin Richardson 1st in class – Champion Black OPB and 4th – White OPB, Karlie Cross 1st – Black OPB and 6th – Hampshire, Hudson Gray 1st in class – Champion White OPB, Tatum Brazil 1st  – Black OPB, Klayden Powell 1st in class – Champion Hampshire, Chloe Lopez 1st  – Black OPB, Avery Simpson placed 2nd  – Duroc and 3rd– White OPB, Paxstyn Adams 3rd place White OPB and 3rd in Yorkshire, Bella Blackburn 5th – White OPB, Emily Varga 5th – Black OPB, Alison Dillard 4th  – Black OPB and 5th – Back OPB, Jaclyn Richardson 2nd – Black OPB, Carson Dillard 3rd – Black OPB and 3rd – Hampshire, Presley Lopez 5th – Black OPB, Joshua Guynes 4th – Black OPB, Madee Riley 4th – Cross and 6th – Duroc, Tye Thompson 3rd – Duroc and 5th-Cross, Addison Adams 3rd – Cross, 4th – Hampshire, Nataley Hamm 5th – Hampshire, McKenzie Riley 2nd – Hampshire and 2nd  – Cross, Isabell Lopez  2nd – Hampshire and 2nd  – Yorkshire, Blake Berumen 5th  – Cross, Dosson Chumbley (2) 1st – Cross, Aubrey Hamm 2nd – Cross, Gage Cox 2nd  – Cross and 4th  – Hampshire, Erin Blackburn 6th  – Yorkshire, Joel Lopez 6th  – Duroc

In the Rabbit division, the lone FISD entrant, Morgan Adams, placed 3rd  – Holland Lop.

In the Sheep division, top FISD winner was Addison Horton Reserve Champion Jr. Showmanship and 2nd  – Medium Wool and 4th – Medium Wool, Carson Dillard 1st – Grand Champion Southdown and 2nd  – Southdown. Other winners include Ellie Liebert 2nd  – Medium Wool and 4th – Southdown, Alison Dillard 3rd  – Southdown and 5th  – Southdown.

In the Steer division, Tye Thompson won Grand Champion Sr. Showmanship and also earned 1st – Exotic and 6th – British, Morgan Pickett placed 3rd and 6th in Exotic.
