City power outage continues, warming station open

by | Feb 3, 2022 | Latest

The city of Farmersville is still without power in some areas as crews continue to work hard to completely restore the power lines that transmit power to the city’s electrical grid.

City manager Ben White said Feeder 2 continues to be operational, whereas Feeder 1, another major section, “keeps giving us fits as limbs continue to fall.”

“With precipitation stopping, this may give us a chance for some stability,” he added.

First Baptist Farmersville is now open as a warming station and will serve a brisket and ham dinner tonight at 6 p.m. Residents without power can shower, eat, charge phones and kids can play basketball. The church reports overnight accommodations are available and “any pets must be in a kennel and may not be not loose in the building.”

According to Farmersville PD, the city’s non-emergency phone number, 972-782-6141, has been restored. Please report emergencies only to 9-1-1.

Farmersville ISD will remain closed Friday, Feb. 4 due to the wintry weather and hazardous road conditions. All FISD sporting events scheduled for Thursday and Friday have been canceled.
