A steady rise in need has prompted the Farmersville Outreach Alliance to continue ramping up support for local residents struggling with food insecurity and financial hardship.
The nonprofit, which has served the community since 2012, operates a food pantry twice a month and offers limited financial assistance for items such as utility bills and prescription costs. Since January, the number of families seeking help has jumped from an average of 30 to more than 55 at each pantry opening.
“We served 59 families this past Monday, and it’s been consistently between 55 and 60,” said Judy Brandon, director of the Farmersville Outreach Alliance. “The need has definitely grown.”
The pantry is open the first and third Monday of each month from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and operates out of the First United Methodist Church at 206 N. Main St., Farmersville.
