It is time to tee up for the inaugural Stars and Stripes Scramble presented by Farmersville VFW Post 7426. The fundraising golf event will begin with check-in at 7 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at Woodbridge Golf Club in Wylie.

The 4-person team scramble event will start at 8 a.m. and end with awards for the top three teams, the individual longest drive and the individual closest to pin. An awards luncheon will take place at 1 p.m. The online auction is currently open and will end with the announcement of winners at the luncheon. Two items up for bidding involve hunting trips in Argentina. Tickets are $150 per player or $600 per team. All proceeds from ticket sales, sponsors and the auction benefit VFW Post 7426.

“As a non-profit, we rely solely on these fundraisers and the generosity of the community to continue operations,” VFW Post Commander Jeff Kewak said.

VFW Post 7426 aids veterans and their families with financial resources, assistance with benefits claims and healthcare. Kewak said the post also goes beyond serving veterans by supporting local food pantries, churches and yearly programs such as Angel Tree.

Kewak said the golf tournament is a fun way to move the VFW forward in spreading awareness and fellowship.
